In this original animated series, Kalakala’s unique, hand-drawn animations combine with producer and songwriter T Bone Burnett’s raspy baritone to rescue the stories that have fallen through the floorboards of music history.

The series began with a short animation by Drew Christie about Blind Willie Johnson—a blues singer and guitarist who died in poverty and obscurity despite his incredible musical talent. T Bone loved the film so much, he wanted to create hundreds more. Kalakala collaborates with T Bone, Gunpowder & Sky’s Van Toffler, and Bill Flanagan to create the unique hand-drawn animations.
